Free online SVG to JPG converter

Some publishing, printing, presentation, and mobile applications accept JPG images but not SVG graphics. Converting an SVG creates a fixed-size bitmap that can be shared, previewed, archived, or inserted into documents, but it removes the original vector editability.

What the SVG format is

SVG, or Scalable Vector Graphics, stores shapes, paths, text, colors, gradients, and effects as XML instructions instead of a pixel grid. A browser or graphics application renders those instructions at the requested size, allowing the artwork to scale without the pixelation associated with raster images.

SVG is used for logos, icons, diagrams, maps, interface graphics, and illustrations. Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, CorelDRAW, Affinity Designer, Figma, browsers, and web applications can create or display it. An SVG can also contain embedded raster images, fonts, filters, masks, animation, and scripts; not every converter renders these features identically.

What the JPG format is

JPG, also called JPEG, stores a raster image as pixels compressed with a usually lossy algorithm. It is supported by web browsers, office software, photo applications, social platforms, printers, phones, and cameras.

JPG is effective for photographs and detailed images with continuous color because compression can reduce file size substantially. It does not preserve SVG paths, layers, text editability, or unlimited scaling, and it cannot store transparency. Transparent SVG areas must therefore be rendered against a solid background, such as white, before or during export.

How to convert the file

Using Inkscape

1. Open Inkscape and choose File → Open, then select the SVG.
2. Check the page and artwork bounds. The page export includes the document page, which may contain unwanted whitespace; use the drawing or selection area when appropriate.
3. Choose File → Export and select Page, Drawing, or Selection as the export area.
4. Set the output width or height in pixels. Keep the aspect-ratio lock enabled unless a deliberate distortion is required.
5. Set a solid background color because JPG has no transparency channel.
6. Choose JPG as the output type, enter a name such as logo.jpg, and click Export. Use the highest practical quality setting if Inkscape or the selected export workflow exposes one.

For repeatable conversions, Inkscape also provides a command-line interface:

inkscape input.svg --export-filename=output.jpg --export-width=1600 --export-background=white

Replace input.svg and output.jpg with the actual filenames. Use --export-height when a specific pixel height is required; setting both dimensions can change the aspect ratio if they do not match the artwork.

Check the rendered image before using it, particularly when the SVG contains transparency, embedded fonts, filters, masks, or unusually large dimensions.

Quality and compatibility limits

Choose the output dimensions from the final use rather than from the SVG's nominal size. A bitmap that is too small becomes soft when enlarged; increasing its dimensions afterward cannot restore detail. JPG compression can create halos and block artifacts around text, thin lines, and flat-color edges, so PNG is generally a better raster target for logos, icons, screenshots, and artwork requiring transparency or very sharp edges.

Text can render differently when the required fonts are unavailable. Install the source fonts before exporting, or convert text to paths in the original design application when exact typography is required. Filters, masks, external images, animation, and scripts may be unsupported or reduced to a different static appearance.

Keep the original SVG for future editing and resizing. Avoid repeatedly opening and saving the JPG, because each lossy JPEG save can further reduce image quality.
