ICNS is the icon container format used by macOS. It can store the same icon in multiple sizes and sometimes multiple color depths so the operating system can display crisp icons at different resolutions. Another important limitation is that ICNS may include multiple icon sizes. When converting to JPG, you must pick one size, so the output will be a single raster image rather than a scalable icon set. If you export a small embedded icon, the JPG may look blurry when enlarged.

For best results, export the largest available icon size from the ICNS file, then save it as JPG at a high quality setting. If you need transparency or icon fidelity, consider using PNG instead of JPG.
