How to convert ggb to pdf file

What might be the reason for exporting ggb files to PDF format?

In most cases, ggb to pdf conversion is searched by users who received a .ggb file created in GeoGebra and are not familiar with the software. These files contain interactive mathematical constructions, and exporting them to PDF is often the easiest way to share, print, or archive a static version of the work.

What is GeoGebra?

Available on multiple platforms, including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iPad, and the web, GeoGebra is an interactive geometry, algebra, statistics, and calculus application used for learning and teaching mathematics and science from primary school to university level. You can also use GeoGebra directly in a web browser.

About ggb files

The default file format used by GeoGebra is .ggb. It stores a construction in a ZIP-compressed XML package and may include objects, formulas, settings, and embedded resources. These files are created with the File → Save or File → Save as commands, and in some versions or web apps you can also use File → Download as.

Exporting GeoGebra files to PDF format

The most reliable way to create a PDF is to open the .ggb file in GeoGebra and use the built-in export or print options. In the desktop app or web version, open File → Export → PDF or File → Print Preview, then choose what should appear in the output, such as the Graphics view, Algebra view, or both.

If you only need a printable copy, you can also use the system print dialog and select Save as PDF as the printer destination. This is useful when the exact export options differ between GeoGebra versions.

Keep in mind that a PDF is a static document. Interactive features such as dragging points, sliders, and dynamic updates will not work in the exported file.

Alternative ways to create a PDF

If direct export is not available in your version of GeoGebra, try one of these options:

  • Open the file in the GeoGebra web app and print it to PDF from the browser.
  • Use File → Export → Graphics View as Picture first, then place the image into a document and save that document as PDF.
  • Use a virtual PDF printer from the operating system print dialog.

Things to check before exporting

Before saving to PDF, make sure the construction is displayed the way you want it. Hide unnecessary objects, adjust the zoom level, and choose the correct views to include. If the worksheet contains text or labels, verify that they are readable at the selected page size and orientation.

If you need to preserve interactivity, PDF is not the right format. In that case, keep the original .ggb file or share it through GeoGebra instead.
