Convert QRP to PDF

Recipients often cannot open a .qrp report outside the business application that created it. Converting the rendered report to PDF preserves its pages for email, printing, records systems, and archive copies.

What a QRP file is

QRP commonly refers to a proprietary QuickReport prepared-report file. QuickReport is a reporting component used by applications built with Embarcadero Delphi and C++Builder; its saved output is normally intended to be reopened by the same application or a compatible QuickReport runtime.

A .qrp file is not a standard document format and is not generally supported by Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, or ordinary document converters. The extension can also be used by unrelated software, so confirm the originating program before choosing a conversion method.

Why PDF is the target format

PDF stores fixed-layout pages containing text, fonts, images, lines, and print geometry. It can be opened in browsers and standard PDF readers without QuickReport, while retaining page breaks and printed layout more reliably than an editable office format.

A PDF captures the visible report only. It does not preserve QuickReport controls, formulas, database connections, report templates, or the ability to refresh data from the original system.

Convert with the originating application

Use the application that created the file whenever possible. It has the best chance of recognizing the QRP version, report layout, fonts, and any application-specific resources.

1. Open report.qrp in the originating application. If the file does not open, ask the sender for the program name, version, and a PDF exported from their system.
2. Look for a command such as File → Export → PDF, Report → Export, or File → Save As. Select PDF, choose a destination, and save the file.
3. If no PDF export exists, use File → Print. On Windows, select Microsoft Print to PDF; Adobe Acrobat installs an Adobe PDF printer when its PDF-creation component is installed.
4. Set the original paper size, orientation, page range, margins, and scaling. Save the output as report.pdf.
5. Open the PDF and verify page count, page breaks, totals, small text, signatures, graphics, and barcodes.

Native PDF export is usually preferable to virtual printing because it can retain vector text and lines. A PDF printer is the practical fallback when the report can be displayed or printed but cannot be exported.

When the application is unavailable

There is no generally reliable online converter for proprietary QuickReport QRP files. Reputable general PDF services, including Adobe Acrobat online tools and Smallpdf, convert formats they recognize, but they do not provide dependable QuickReport QRP support.

Do not upload confidential QRP reports to an unknown conversion site. Such files may contain customer, financial, medical, or operational information, and a service that accepts the upload may still be unable to render it correctly.

If the original software is unavailable, request a PDF from the sender or obtain the original application and the matching QuickReport components. If the report depends on a database, templates, or custom code, the sender may need to regenerate it from the source system before exporting.

Quality and compatibility checks

A QRP file may depend on the QuickReport version, application build, installed fonts, printer settings, and report resources used when it was created. Open it on a system as close as possible to the source environment if text is missing, detail rows are blank, or layout differs.

Keep the report's intended A4 or Letter paper size and avoid Fit to page unless scaling is required. Scaling can alter column widths, split rows, change pagination, and make barcodes unreadable.

Renaming report.qrp to report.pdf does not convert the file. The PDF must be generated by a program that can render the QRP report.
