Convert DDD to PDF

Recipients often need a PDF because they do not have the software that created a .ddd file, or because a fixed-layout copy is required for printing, review, or records. The correct conversion method depends on what application produced the file.

What a DDD file is

The .ddd extension is ambiguous. It is commonly used by MeeSoft Diagram Designer for editable flowcharts, technical drawings, organization charts, and other diagrams containing shapes, connectors, text, images, and page settings.

Digital tachographs also use .ddd for driver-card and vehicle-unit downloads. These are structured operational data files, not drawings; opening them in Diagram Designer or sending them to a generic converter will not create a meaningful PDF. Identify the source application before proceeding.

What PDF provides

PDF is a fixed-layout document format readable in browsers, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and most operating systems. It preserves page size and visual placement for distribution and printing, and diagram lines and text may remain sharp when the PDF printer outputs them as vector content.

A PDF is not an editable replacement for a Diagram Designer document or tachograph source data. Keep the original .ddd file for later revisions, data validation, or regulatory retention.

Convert Diagram Designer files

Diagram Designer documents are normally converted by opening them in Diagram Designer and printing to a PDF printer. Use the same or a newer compatible version of the application where possible.

1. Open the file in Diagram Designer with File → Open.
2. Check the diagram for missing images, substituted fonts, clipped objects, and the intended page boundaries.
3. Set paper size and orientation in the application's page setup options before printing.
4. Choose File → Print.
5. Select Microsoft Print to PDF on Windows 10 or Windows 11, or another installed PDF driver such as Adobe PDF, PDFCreator, or Foxit PDF Editor.
6. In printer preferences, select the required paper size and orientation. Use actual size or 100% scaling when dimensions matter; use fit-to-page only when resizing is acceptable.
7. Print and save the output with a .pdf filename.
8. Open the PDF and verify every page, small labels, page breaks, and objects near the margins.

Diagram Designer may offer image export options, but printing directly to PDF usually avoids converting vector drawings to a raster image first. If direct printing is unavailable, export a high-resolution image or another supported interchange format from Diagram Designer, then create a PDF from that export; this can reduce text and line quality.

Convert tachograph DDD files

A tachograph .ddd file must first be interpreted by the fleet-management, tachograph-analysis, or reporting software used to import it. In that software, select the required driver, vehicle, activity, infringement, or compliance report, then use Export → PDF or Print → PDF.

Do not convert the raw tachograph download directly to PDF. A PDF printer can only capture a readable report generated by software that understands the file's data structure; it does not turn the binary download into a useful compliance record.

Online conversion and output checks

Generic online converters should not be used merely because they accept the .ddd extension. A service may treat the file as a different DDD format, reject it, or produce unusable output. Use an online service only when it explicitly identifies support for the exact originating application and its privacy terms permit uploading the file.

Do not upload confidential diagrams, personnel information, fleet records, or tachograph data to public conversion sites. Desktop conversion through the source application avoids that transfer.

Embedded bitmap images retain their original resolution, so a low-resolution scan or logo will remain blurry in the PDF. Missing fonts can alter line wrapping and move diagram labels; convert on a system with the source fonts installed and, where the PDF driver supports it, enable font embedding. PDF output retains the printable appearance, not Diagram Designer objects, connector behavior, editing metadata, or raw tachograph data.
