Spo to pdf file conversion

.spo files are legacy output files created by older versions of IBM SPSS Statistics. They are not the same as the newer .spv output format used by modern SPSS versions. If you can open a .spo file in a compatible SPSS installation or SPSS Legacy Viewer, you can usually export or print the output to PDF.

Outside of SPSS, conversion is difficult because .spo is a proprietary format and most modern tools do not support it directly. PSPP, the open-source alternative to SPSS, does not import .spo files.

How to convert in SPSS

If the file opens in the legacy viewer or an older SPSS version, use File → Print and select a PDF printer, or use File → Export if your version includes PDF export. The exact menu names vary by version, but the goal is to create a PDF from the output window.

Important notes

.spo is an older format, so newer SPSS installations may not open it directly unless they include compatibility support. If your file is actually .spv, you need a newer SPSS version or a compatible viewer for that format.

Be careful with third-party downloads of legacy viewers. Use trusted sources whenever possible, since unofficial copies may be outdated or unsafe.

If you do not have access to SPSS or a compatible viewer, there is usually no reliable standalone spo to pdf converter. In that case, the best options are to use a machine with SPSS installed or ask the file owner to export the output to PDF for you.
