Direct conversion from JPG to MGX is not straightforward because JPG is a raster format and MGX is a specialized CAD/CAM format. The process involves importing the JPG image into ArtCAM or compatible software, then tracing or converting the image into vectors or reliefs, and finally saving the project as an MGX file.

Step-by-step conversion process

1. Open ArtCAM (or ArtCAM Express/Insignia/Pro if available).
2. Go to File → Import → Bitmap and select your JPG image.
3. Use the Bitmap to Vector tool to trace the image and create vector outlines.
4. Edit the vectors or create reliefs as needed for your project.
5. Save your work by selecting File → Save As and choose the MGX format.

Recommended software for JPG to MGX conversion

• ArtCAM (by Autodesk, discontinued but still used in many workshops)
• Vectric Aspire (for similar workflows, but outputs CRV3D or other formats, not MGX directly)

For best results, use ArtCAM as it natively supports the MGX format and provides robust bitmap-to-vector tools.
