How to perform the conversion

Because CDR is a vector format and WEBP is a raster image format, the conversion usually means exporting or rendering the CDR artwork into a bitmap image at a chosen resolution. The best results usually come from CorelDRAW itself or another program that can open CDR files reliably.

1. Open the CDR file in CorelDRAW or compatible software that supports CDR import.
2. Check the page size, crop area, and any objects that extend beyond the canvas.
3. If needed, adjust the artwork so the exported image includes exactly what you want.
4. Choose File → Export or File → Export For Web, depending on the version of the software.
5. Select WEBP as the output format.
6. Set the export options: choose the image size, resolution, and whether you want lossy or lossless compression.
7. Enable transparency if your artwork has transparent areas and you want to preserve them.

Notes on quality and limitations

This conversion is not reversible in the same way as vector-to-vector conversion, because WEBP cannot preserve editable vector objects, text, or layers from the original CDR file. The output quality depends heavily on the export resolution: a low-resolution export may look blurry, while a higher-resolution export produces a sharper image but a larger file.

For logos, icons, and illustrations, export at a sufficiently high pixel size so edges remain crisp. If the CDR contains complex transparency, gradients, or special CorelDRAW effects, the appearance may vary slightly after rendering. Also note that some CDR files created in newer CorelDRAW versions may not open correctly in all third-party applications, so using CorelDRAW itself is usually the most reliable method.
