PPTX is the default presentation format used by Microsoft PowerPoint and many compatible office suites such as LibreOffice and Google Slides. It stores slides, text, images, charts, animations, speaker notes, and layout information in an Office Open XML package. How to perform the conversion

Converting PPTX to WebP usually means exporting each slide as an image and then saving those images in WebP format. Because a presentation can contain multiple slides, the result is often one WebP file per slide, unless you first combine slides into a single image or animation.

1. Open the presentation in a compatible editor such as Microsoft PowerPoint or LibreOffice Impress.
2. Export the slides as images. In PowerPoint, use File → Export or File → Save As and choose an image format such as PNG or JPEG. In LibreOffice Impress, use File → Export or File → Export As depending on the version.
3. Convert the exported images to WebP. If your editor does not export directly to WebP, use an image tool that supports WebP, such as ImageMagick, GIMP, or ffmpeg for animated workflows.
4. Batch convert the slide images. For example, with ImageMagick you can convert a PNG slide image to WebP using magick slide1.png slide1.webp. For multiple slides, repeat the command for each exported image.

If you need a single WebP image from the whole presentation, first render or export the slides into one combined image, then convert that image to WebP. Notes on quality and limitations

PPTX is a multi-slide document format, while WebP is an image format, so this conversion is inherently a flattening process. Text, vector shapes, transitions, animations, embedded media, hyperlinks, and speaker notes do not carry over as editable presentation elements. They become part of a static image, or are lost entirely.

For best quality, export slides at a high resolution before converting to WebP. This is especially important for presentations with small text, charts, or detailed diagrams. Lossy WebP can reduce file size, but it may soften fine text; use lossless WebP when preserving sharpness matters more than size.

Compatibility is generally good in modern browsers and image viewers, but some older software may not open WebP files. If you need broad compatibility, keep a PNG or JPEG copy as well. Also note that a PPTX with many slides will usually produce many WebP files, so naming and organizing the output files is important.
