PPTX is the default presentation file format used by Microsoft PowerPoint and many compatible office suites such as LibreOffice and WPS Office. It is an XML-based package that stores slides, text, images, charts, animations, speaker notes, and layout information. The usual result of a PPTX to JPEG conversion is one JPEG image per slide. That is different from extracting embedded pictures from the presentation: a slide export turns the entire slide into a flat image, including text, shapes, charts, and backgrounds.

1. Open the PPTX file in Microsoft PowerPoint or LibreOffice Impress.
2. Review the slides first, because the exported JPEGs will capture exactly what is visible on each slide.
3. Use File → Export or File → Save As.
4. Choose JPEG or JPEG File Interchange Format as the output type.
5. When prompted, choose whether to export all slides or only the current slide.
6. Select an output folder and confirm the export.

In Microsoft PowerPoint, saving a presentation as JPEG usually creates a folder containing one image for each slide. In LibreOffice Impress, you can use File → Export As → Export as Image or File → Export, then choose JPEG and the desired slide range.

Important differences and limitations

JPEG is lossy, so fine text, thin lines, and logos may look softer than in the original slide. If your presentation contains small fonts or detailed vector graphics, export at a higher resolution if your software allows it.

Because JPEG is a single-image format, it cannot preserve PowerPoint features such as animations, transitions, editable text, embedded audio, or speaker notes. Each slide becomes a static picture. Transparency may also be flattened during export.

If you only want to reuse pictures that are already embedded inside the PPTX file, that is a different task: PPTX files are ZIP-based packages, and the embedded media is usually stored inside the package structure. However, that does not convert the slides themselves to JPEG.

For presentations with many slides, the conversion may produce a large number of image files. JPEG is convenient for compact slide previews, while PNG is a better choice if you need lossless quality or sharper text.
