WEBP is suitable for websites, browser-based applications, previews, email attachments, and general sharing. It is not a RAW format: it stores the rendered result, so it cannot preserve the full sensor data or provide the same flexibility for later exposure and white-balance adjustments.

How to convert MRW to WEBP

Using darktable

  1. Install a current version of darktable with RAW-file support, then open the application.
  2. Import the MRW file through Lighttable → Import → Image.
  3. Select the photograph and open it in Darkroom. Set exposure, white balance, crop, sharpening, and color adjustments before exporting.
  4. Return to Lighttable, select the image, and open the export panel.
