6. Listen to the result and, if needed, adjust render settings such as sample rate, stereo separation, or resampling quality before exporting again.

Notes on quality and limitations

STM is a module format, not recorded audio, so the conversion outcome depends on the playback engine used. Different players may interpret effects, envelopes, or sample looping slightly differently, which can change the sound. For best results, use a tracker with accurate Scream Tracker compatibility and render at a high sample rate before encoding to OGG.

Because OGG is a lossy format when using Vorbis or Opus, some audio detail is discarded during encoding. If you need an archival master, keep the rendered .wav file as well. Also note that some very old STM files may contain quirks or unsupported effects that do not translate perfectly outside their original tracker environment.
