What the PS format is

In machine embroidery, PS generally identifies a Pfaff-associated embroidery design format, not the unrelated PostScript document format. U01 is useful when the receiving machine or its control software specifically lists U01 as a supported format. It is a machine format rather than an editable digitizing master: after conversion, object structure, lettering settings, and some thread metadata may no longer be available for editing.

If the PS file contains lettering or editable objects, export from the original digitizing software when possible; a direct stitch-format conversion cannot recover missing object-level settings.
