Free online MMAP to JPG converter

A JPG is useful when a mind map must be inserted into a presentation, shared as an ordinary image, or opened on a device without MindManager. Conversion creates a broadly compatible static picture, but removes the editable map structure.

What the MMAP format is

MMAP is the map-document format used by MindManager, formerly associated with Mindjet. It stores mind maps, concept maps, plans and flowcharts with separately editable topics, relationships, boundaries, notes, hyperlinks, attachments, task data and visual formatting. MindManager users exchange MMAP files for planning, brainstorming, project management and collaborative work.

The original .mmap file remains the appropriate format for future editing. A JPG export does not retain the map as a collection of editable objects.

What the JPG format is

JPG, also called JPEG, is a compressed raster-image format supported by web browsers, office software, image viewers and most mobile devices. It is practical for sharing a complete map as one image when compatibility and a smaller file matter more than editable content.

JPG uses lossy compression. It can soften small text and create halos around thin connector lines, and it cannot preserve MMAP topics, hyperlinks, notes, attachments, folding states, task metadata or searchable structure.

How to convert MMAP to JPG

MindManager desktop is the most predictable option because it can render the map before saving the image.

1. Open the .mmap file in MindManager.
2. Expand topics that must be visible, hide irrelevant branches, select the required map orientation and check for overlapping labels.
3. Choose File → Export → Image. The exact label can vary by MindManager version; it may appear as an image-file export command.
4. Select JPEG or JPG, choose a filename and destination, and set the image dimensions or quality if those options are available.
5. Open the exported JPG in an image viewer and check that the map is not clipped and that text remains readable.

Quality and compatibility limits

Choose the highest available JPG quality for dense diagrams, small labels and thin lines. Avoid repeatedly opening and resaving the image because each lossy save can reduce quality. If the destination accepts another image format, PNG usually preserves text and linework more sharply, but JPG is appropriate when JPEG is required or a smaller raster file is preferred.

Conversion is one-way: editing the JPG cannot recreate the MMAP hierarchy, links or metadata. Keep the original .mmap file whenever later editing, searchable text, hyperlinks or collaboration may be needed.
