What the MINDNODE format is

.mindnode is MindNode's native document format for mind maps. It stores the map's hierarchy, topics, connections, notes, styling, and other editable data rather than just a flat picture. MindNode creates and opens these files on Apple devices and through its supported desktop or web applications. A MINDNODE file generally requires MindNode for direct editing; image viewers and office applications do not interpret its map structure.

What the JPG format is

JPG, also called JPEG, is a widely supported raster-image format. It works well for sharing a finished map in email, presentations, websites, and general-purpose image viewers because files are smaller than many lossless alternatives. JPG uses lossy compression, so fine text and thin connector lines can lose sharpness, especially after repeated saves or at a low quality setting.

How to convert MINDNODE to JPG

1. Open the MINDNODE-to-JPG converter on 101convert.com.
2. Select the .mindnode file from your device.
3. Choose JPG as the output format and start the conversion.
4. Download the resulting .jpg file and check that the complete map, including small labels and branches, is visible.

This method requires no installed conversion software. The source file must be a valid MindNode document; a renamed or damaged file will not become convertible merely by changing its extension.

Using MindNode and an image editor

1. Open map.mindnode in MindNode.
2. Export the visual map through File → Export → Image, if that command is available in your MindNode version. If the application exports PDF instead, use File → Export → PDF.
3. For a PNG export, open the image in Preview on macOS and choose File → Export, then set Format: JPEG and select a quality level.
4. For a PDF export, open the PDF in Preview, choose File → Export, select JPEG, and set the required resolution and quality.

Quality and compatibility limits

JPG contains only the rendered appearance of the map: branches, text, colors, and images are flattened into one bitmap. It does not preserve MindNode's hierarchy, links, notes, folding state, or editability. Export at the largest practical dimensions or at least 150–300 dpi for maps containing small text, then use a JPEG quality setting around 90–95%. PNG or PDF is usually better when sharp labels, transparent backgrounds, or later printing matter; use JPG when broad compatibility and a smaller file are the priority.
