Free online INP to ODT converter

INP files from InPage are not opened directly by LibreOffice or other general-purpose word processors. Converting one to ODT is useful when the document must be edited, shared, or archived in an OpenDocument-compatible application.

What the INP format is

In the Documents category, INP refers to an InPage document created by InPage, a desktop-publishing and word-processing application used mainly for Urdu, Arabic, Persian, and other right-to-left scripts. INP stores the document's text, formatting, page composition, and often linked or embedded graphics in InPage's proprietary structure.

InPage is commonly used for newspapers, books, forms, invitations, and multilingual publications. An INP file normally requires InPage for reliable opening; changing its extension to .odt does not convert the content.

What the ODT format is

ODT is the OpenDocument Text format used by LibreOffice Writer, Apache OpenOffice, and other office suites. It is an XML-based, openly specified format that supports paragraphs, styles, tables, images, headers, footers, comments, and right-to-left text.

ODT is suitable when recipients need to edit the document without InPage, when files must be stored in a documented office format, or when the document will be processed by OpenDocument-compatible software.

How to convert INP to ODT

Using the online converter

1. Make a copy of the original .inp file; conversion does not replace the source.
2. Open the free converter on 101convert.com, choose the INP file, and select ODT as the output format.
3. Start the conversion and download the resulting .odt file when it is ready.
4. Open the output in LibreOffice Writer and check Urdu or other right-to-left text, paragraph direction, fonts, page breaks, tables, and images.

Using InPage and LibreOffice

When direct conversion is unavailable or the output needs manual correction, open the file in InPage and export its contents to an intermediate format supported by your installation, such as .rtf or Unicode text. In LibreOffice Writer, use File → Open to open the exported file, correct the layout, then use File → Save As and choose ODF Text Document (.odt).

If InPage does not provide a suitable export command, select and copy the document content from InPage, paste it into LibreOffice Writer, set the correct right-to-left paragraph direction, and save it as ODT. This method transfers text more reliably than attempting to open the INP file directly.

Quality and compatibility limits

INP and ODT use different document models, so conversion may alter exact page composition. InPage-specific typography, non-Unicode legacy fonts, ligatures, anchored objects, columns, master-page elements, and complex Urdu or Arabic shaping may require manual repair.

Use Unicode fonts that contain the required script, such as Noto Nastaliq Urdu or another font selected for the original document, and verify the result on a system where that font is installed. Exported text can remain correct while its visual appearance changes because ODT uses the destination application's font metrics and layout rules.

Keep the original INP file for archival or print-production purposes. ODT is best treated as an editable interchange copy unless every page, script, image, and typographic detail has been checked.
