Open an ehi file as text

.ehi files are commonly used as HTTP Injector configuration files. Many of them are plain text or contain text-readable configuration data, so you often do not need a special conversion just to view or edit them.

Try opening the file in a plain text editor such as Notepad, Notepad++, VS Code, or TextEdit. If the contents are readable, you can edit them directly.

Check whether the file is really text

If the file opens as unreadable symbols or random characters, it may be encoded, compressed, encrypted, or otherwise protected. In that case, simply renaming the extension will not make it readable.

You can also inspect the file type with a file identification tool or by checking whether the first few lines look like normal configuration text.

Rename the extension

If you only want your system to treat the file like a text document, you can rename filename.ehi to filename.txt. This does not convert the file contents; it only changes the extension and may change the default app association.

On some systems, changing the extension can help the file open in a text editor by default, but the file will still be usable as text only if its contents are actually plain text.

Use the original app when needed

If the file is not readable in a text editor, you may need the application that created it, such as HTTP Injector, to open, export, or decode it properly. There is no universal .ehi to text conversion if the file is not already text-based.

Save a text copy

If your goal is to share the contents as a text document, open the file in a text editor and save a copy as .txt only when the content is readable text. For example, use File → Save As and choose filename.txt.

Important note

Do not assume every .ehi file is plain text. File extensions can be misleading, and a text-like extension does not guarantee that the file contains readable text data.
