Convert EHI to TXT

HTTP Injector requires an .ehi profile to restore a connection, while people may need .txt to edit, compare, or share the visible settings. The conversion therefore means extracting readable values, not merely changing the filename.

What the EHI format is

.ehi is an application-specific configuration and export format used by HTTP Injector, an Android tunneling, proxy, SSH, and VPN client. An EHI file can contain connection parameters such as payloads, proxy details, SSH or VPN options, DNS settings, and other profile data. Its contents may be serialized, compressed, encoded, or password-protected, and the exact fields depend on the HTTP Injector version and the profile.

HTTP Injector is the normal program for opening an EHI file. A generic text editor may display fragments if the file contains readable text, but it cannot reliably interpret or reconstruct the profile.

What the TXT format is

.txt is unstructured plain text readable by Notepad, TextEdit, Android text editors, and code editors. It supports simple editing, searching, comparison, and archiving without requiring HTTP Injector. TXT does not preserve EHI’s configuration structure, import behavior, encryption, protected fields, or application-specific settings.

How to extract EHI data into TXT

1. Keep an unchanged backup of the original .ehi file. Install HTTP Injector from its official Android distribution source.
2. In the Android file manager, use Open with or Share and select HTTP Injector. If the app has an Import, Restore, or Load configuration command, use that command instead.
3. Enter the profile password if HTTP Injector requests it. A protected file cannot be fully extracted without the required password.
4. Open the relevant payload, proxy, SSH, VPN, DNS, and connection sections in HTTP Injector. Copy the values that the app makes visible into an Android text editor, Notepad, TextEdit, or another plain-text editor.
5. Save the extracted information as configuration.txt, preferably using UTF-8 when the editor provides an encoding option.

This is a manual extraction rather than a lossless format conversion. HTTP Injector may conceal passwords, tokens, private keys, or other protected values even after a successful import, so the TXT file may not contain every value in the EHI profile.

Inspecting readable fragments

For troubleshooting, a strings utility can write character sequences found inside an EHI file to a text file:

strings -a configuration.ehi > ehi-strings.txt

On Windows, strings.exe from Microsoft Sysinternals provides the equivalent function. This output is only a partial dump: encoded, compressed, encrypted, or binary fields may be missing or unreadable, and the result cannot normally be imported back into HTTP Injector.

Compatibility and security limits

Renaming configuration.ehi to configuration.txt changes only the extension. It does not decode, decrypt, or convert the file, and a text editor may show meaningless binary data.

There is no generally applicable, reputable online EHI-to-TXT converter that can interpret all HTTP Injector profiles. Uploading an EHI file to an online service is also unsafe because it may contain SSH credentials, tokens, proxy addresses, payloads, server details, or private keys. Use HTTP Injector and a local text editor instead of a browser converter.

If the goal is to use the profile on another device, preserve the original EHI file and import it into a compatible HTTP Injector installation. Use the TXT file only as a human-readable record, and remove credentials and other secrets before sharing it.
