A BLEND file must usually be rendered before it can be used by a printer, desktop publishing application, or image editor that accepts TIF/TIFF images. The conversion produces a raster image of the Blender scene, not an editable 3D model.

What the BLEND format is

BLEND is Blender's native project format. It can contain meshes, materials, cameras, lights, animations, render settings, compositor nodes, and optionally packed image assets. Blender creates and opens BLEND files; common uses include 3D modeling, animation, architectural visualization, and visual effects.

A BLEND file is a scene or project container rather than a bitmap. It does not become a TIFF by simply changing its filename extension.

What the TIF format is

TIF, also called TIFF, is a raster image format used for rendered artwork, print production, scanning, and image archiving. It supports high color depth, lossless storage options, RGB or RGBA pixels, and large image dimensions, making it more suitable than JPEG when preserving render detail matters.

A TIF contains fixed pixels. It does not retain Blender meshes, editable materials, cameras, lights, animation, or 3D navigation.

How to convert BLEND to TIF

Using Blender

  1. Open the project in Blender with File → Open, then select scene.blend.
  2. Choose the scene camera and set the required output size in Output Properties → Format → Resolution. Set the percentage to 100% for the selected dimensions.
  3. Set the render engine, samples, lighting, materials, and color-management options. These settings determine the appearance of the TIFF.
  4. For a still image, render with Render → Render Image or press F12.
  5. In the Render Result window, choose Image → Save As, select TIFF as the file format, specify the filename, and save the image.

For a repeatable output or an animation, open Output Properties → Output, set the output folder, choose TIFF under File Format, configure color and color depth options available in the installed Blender version, then use Render → Render Animation. Blender writes one TIFF file per frame.

Using the online converter

You can also convert the file for free on the 101convert.com website without installing software. Upload the BLEND file, choose TIF as the target format, start the conversion, and download the resulting image if the service supports the scene and Blender features used by the file.

Quality and compatibility limitations

The output depends on the active camera, render engine, external textures, linked libraries, simulation caches, and Blender version. Missing external assets can produce blank materials or incomplete renders; pack required assets with File → External Data → Pack Resources before transferring the project.

Transparency requires an RGBA output and an enabled transparent film setting under Render Properties → Film → Transparent. A TIFF export cannot preserve animation in one file, so animated scenes require a numbered image sequence or a video format.

If the goal is to extract a texture stored inside the BLEND rather than render the whole scene, open the relevant image in Blender's Image Editor and use Image → Save As. Rendering the scene and exporting a texture are different operations.
