Free online VSDX to JPEG converter

A recipient, presentation, document system, or image archive may not support editable Visio files, so a diagram needs to be delivered as a widely supported image. Converting it to JPEG creates a compact snapshot that can be opened without Microsoft Visio.

What the VSDX format is

.vsdx is the XML-based Microsoft Visio drawing format introduced with Visio 2013. It stores editable flowcharts, organizational charts, process diagrams, network maps, floor plans, and other technical drawings, including shapes, connectors, text, layers, hyperlinks, and page settings.

Microsoft Visio is the main application used to create and edit VSDX files. A VSDX document can contain multiple pages, whereas a JPEG is a single raster image, so each page normally requires a separate JPEG.

What the JPEG format is

JPEG is a lossy compressed raster image format identified by .jpg and .jpeg. Web browsers, office applications, image viewers, content-management systems, and most phones and tablets support it.

JPEG is suitable for sharing a finished diagram, inserting it into a presentation, publishing it on a website, or storing a compact visual copy. Its compression reduces file size, but it can blur small text and produce artifacts around thin lines and diagonal connectors.

How to convert VSDX to JPEG

Using 101convert

You can convert the file on 101convert.com for free without installing software:

1. Open the VSDX-to-JPEG converter on 101convert.
2. Upload the file, such as process-map.vsdx.
3. Select JPEG as the output format and start the conversion.
4. Download the resulting .jpg file.

Check the result when the source has multiple pages. The converter may create one image per page or require a page selection; keep page numbers in the filenames to preserve their order. Do not upload confidential diagrams unless the service's data-handling terms meet your requirements.

Using Microsoft Visio

Microsoft Visio desktop can export a rendered page directly:

1. Open the VSDX file in Visio and select the page to export.
2. Choose File → Export → Change File Type.

4. Set the available resolution, color, or image-quality options and save the file.

Quality and compatibility limits

The conversion renders the diagram as pixels. It does not preserve editable Visio shapes, connectors, layers, hyperlinks, comments, formulas, or multi-page document structure. Keep the original VSDX for future editing.

Use a sufficiently large output size for diagrams with small labels. For printing, an export around 300 dpi is usually more appropriate than a screen-sized image, although readability also depends on the page dimensions and text size. Inspect labels, arrowheads, and thin connector lines after conversion.

JPEG does not support transparency and normally uses a solid background. Repeatedly opening and resaving a JPEG can cause additional quality loss. If the destination accepts alternatives, PNG generally keeps text and line art sharper, while PDF is better for preserving page layout and print scaling; JPEG is appropriate when a broadly compatible, compact raster image is required.
