Free online ODG to JPEG converter

A mind map or flowchart saved as ODG may need JPEG for a website, presentation, image editor, or device that cannot open OpenDocument graphics. JPEG produces a widely supported raster image that is easier to share, but it no longer contains editable drawing objects.

What the ODG format is

ODG means OpenDocument Graphics. It is the editable drawing format used by LibreOffice Draw and Apache OpenOffice Draw for mind maps, flowcharts, diagrams, schematics, and other vector-based page layouts.

An ODG file can store text boxes, shapes, lines, arrows, connectors, embedded images, and their positions on one or more pages. These objects remain separately editable in a compatible drawing application, unlike the pixels in a JPEG.

What the JPEG format is

JPEG is a raster image format supported by web browsers, presentation software, image editors, phones, and most operating systems. It is suitable when a diagram only needs to be viewed, embedded, uploaded, printed, or shared as a single image.

JPEG uses lossy compression, which normally produces smaller files than lossless or uncompressed images. It does not preserve ODG objects, layers, multiple pages, or transparency. A multi-page ODG therefore requires a separate JPEG for each page, unless the conversion tool combines pages into one image.

How to convert ODG to JPEG

Using LibreOffice Draw

1. Open the .odg file in LibreOffice Draw.
2. Display the page containing the mind map or flowchart. For a multi-page document, repeat the export for each page that you need.
3. Choose File → Export.
4. Enter an output filename, select JPEG - Joint Photographic Experts Group or the equivalent JPEG image type, and confirm the export.
5. In the JPEG options, select a high quality setting. If the export dialog provides image dimensions or resolution, increase them when the diagram contains small labels, thin connectors, or fine arrowheads.
6. Open the resulting .jpg or .jpeg file and check the text, page boundaries, connectors, arrowheads, and embedded images.

Quality and compatibility limits

Rasterization converts every ODG object into pixels. JPEG compression can create halos around text and jagged edges on diagonal connectors, particularly at low quality or small output dimensions. Export at a larger pixel size and use the highest practical quality when the diagram contains dense text.

Missing fonts can change line wrapping, text size, and object alignment when the ODG is rendered. Embedded images, hidden objects, page backgrounds, and clipping may also render differently between applications and converters, so inspect the output before publishing.

JPEG cannot store an alpha channel. Transparent ODG areas are rendered against a solid background, often white. For sharp text, transparent areas, or lossless output, PNG is generally more suitable; PDF is preferable when the document must remain page-oriented or printable.
