What the SVGZ format is

SVGZ is a gzip-compressed Scalable Vector Graphics file. It stores vector paths, fills, strokes, text, and transforms in compressed SVG XML, and is commonly created by Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, and other vector-design applications. SVGZ is useful for compact artwork storage, but embroidery machines cannot stitch its paths directly because it contains no stitch order, density, underlay, pull compensation, or machine commands.

What the XXX format is

XXX is a Compucon embroidery-design format used by embroidery software and compatible machines. It contains digitized stitches rather than editable vector artwork, including stitch coordinates, color-change information, and other machine-readable commands. XXX is suitable when the target machine or embroidery application specifically supports the Compucon format.

How to actually convert SVGZ to XXX

3. Assign embroidery settings to each object, including fill or satin-stitch type, stitch density, underlay, stitch length, start and end points, and thread color.
4. Arrange objects in stitch order to reduce unnecessary jumps and trims. Avoid extremely narrow columns, sharp corners, and details smaller than the capabilities of the fabric and needle.

6. Choose File → Export or the Ink/Stitch embroidery export command, select XXX, set the design size and machine settings, and save the file.
7. Open the exported file in the target embroidery software and verify the hoop size, thread sequence, stitch count, and design orientation before transferring it to the machine.

Quality and compatibility considerations

SVGZ-to-XXX conversion is not lossless: vector geometry must be interpreted as stitches, and the result depends on fabric type, stabilizer, needle, thread, stitch density, and digitizing settings. A complex SVG may need manual simplification before conversion.

XXX support varies between machine models and software versions. Confirm the required hoop dimensions and maximum design size, and test-stitch the converted file on a fabric sample. If the machine does not accept XXX, export another format supported by that machine, such as PES, DST, JEF, or VP3.
