Convert PNG to PAGES

It is not actually possible to convert just any image (for example PNG files) to iWorks Pages documents directly, however you can import the picture as an object to the document, but only in the original Pages word processor. Online converters advertising such png to pages conversion are actually do doing that, i.e. inserting the picture as object in otherwise blank document.
