ACE archives (.ace) are now uncommon, and support for creating them has largely disappeared from modern archivers. In practice, ZIP to ACE conversion is usually not a direct format conversion. Most tools cannot simply change a ZIP file into an ACE file in one step.

Instead, the usual process is to extract the ZIP archive and then repack the extracted files into ACE using software that still supports ACE creation. This means the original ZIP compression is not preserved as-is; the contents are unpacked and compressed again in the new format.

Important: ACE support is limited and often outdated. Many current archivers can open ACE files, but cannot create them. If you need broad compatibility, consider keeping the files in ZIP or using a more widely supported format such as 7z or RAR.

If you do need ACE output, look for an archiver that explicitly supports ACE creation. The workflow is typically:

1. Open the ZIP archive.
2. Extract its contents to a folder.
3. Create a new ACE archive from the extracted files.

Because ACE is an older format, availability of compatible software may depend on your operating system and the version of the archiver you use.
