What the STD format is

In the mind-map and flowchart context, STD is a StarOffice/OpenOffice drawing template format used for reusable diagram layouts, including flowcharts, organizational diagrams, and other vector drawings. You may encounter STD files created by StarOffice or Apache OpenOffice Draw, and some versions of LibreOffice Draw can open them. The file can contain page settings, reusable styles, shapes, connectors, and text rather than a finished document on every page.

What the SVG format is

SVG is an XML-based vector graphics format. Browsers, documentation tools, diagram editors, and graphics applications can display it without rasterizing the drawing. How to convert STD to SVG

Using LibreOffice Draw or Apache OpenOffice Draw

1. Make a backup of the original .std file.
2. Open LibreOffice Draw or Apache OpenOffice Draw.
3. Select File → Open, choose the STD file, and set the file filter to All files if the file is not shown automatically.
4. If the program opens the file as a template, create or open the drawing based on that template so that the diagram content is visible.
5. Select File → Export, choose SVG - Scalable Vector Graphics as the file type, specify a destination, and confirm the export.
6. Open the resulting .svg in a browser or vector editor and check the page boundary, labels, connectors, and font rendering.

Quality and compatibility limits

• The conversion exports the diagram's visual appearance; it does not preserve the original STD template structure or OpenOffice-specific editing features.
