CAD schematics (.sch) can be opened and printed as PDF (or occasionally in 3D PDF) in various PCB layout editors such as the P-CAD or Eagle, which offer sch to pdf conversion via dedicated PDF export function. This is a good way of sharing PCB layouts, but .pdf files cannot be further edited or used for CAD/CAE purposes.
