Convert CWZ to PDF

A CWZ design usually needs conversion when it must be sent to someone without Circuit Wizard, printed, or submitted as a fixed-layout document. PDF preserves the visible schematic and annotations, but not the original Circuit Wizard editing or simulation functions.

What the CWZ format is

.cwz is the native circuit-design file format used by Circuit Wizard, the Windows electronics design application from New Wave Concepts. Students, teachers, hobbyists, and electronics designers use it for schematics, component settings, wiring, annotations, and simulation data. A CWZ file is not a document format that standard PDF software can interpret, so changing the filename extension does not convert it.

What the PDF format is

PDF stores a fixed page layout that can be opened on Windows, macOS, Linux, mobile devices, and in web browsers. It is suitable for printing, email, coursework submission, documentation, and archiving because page size, object positions, and text placement remain consistent across systems. A PDF exported or printed from Circuit Wizard is normally a visual copy: it cannot be reopened as an editable CWZ project or used to run the source simulation.

Convert with Circuit Wizard on Windows

1. Install the Circuit Wizard version that can open the file, then choose File → Open and select the .cwz file. If it fails to open, ask the sender for a copy saved by a compatible version; do not alter the extension.
2. Display the schematic or design view required in the output. Hide grids, simulation panels, or other interface elements that should not appear on the printed page.
3. Open the application's page or printer settings, commonly File → Page Setup or the equivalent command. Select the required paper size and orientation; landscape is usually better for wide schematics. Adjust the scale so that the entire circuit is included without making labels unreadable.
4. Choose File → Print. In the Windows printer list, select Microsoft Print to PDF, or use an installed PDF printer such as Adobe PDF or PDF24.
5. Set the page range and paper options, select Print, choose a destination, and save the result as a filename such as circuit-design.pdf.
6. Open the PDF and inspect every page at 100% zoom. Check component symbols, reference designators, values, wire junctions, annotations, and page edges before sending it.

Some Circuit Wizard releases may provide an export command, but menu names and available formats vary by version. If an explicit PDF export is present under File → Export, it can be used; otherwise, printing through a system PDF printer is the dependable method because Circuit Wizard renders the design itself.

Quality and compatibility limits

A large schematic forced onto one page can make component values and reference designators too small to read. Use larger paper, landscape orientation, a less restrictive scale, or several pages when the design contains fine detail. Review the generated PDF rather than relying only on the print preview, which may not reveal clipped labels or symbols at the page boundary.

PDF output does not preserve circuit connectivity as editable objects, simulation settings as executable data, or Circuit Wizard component libraries. Keep the original .cwz file with the PDF when future editing or simulation is required.

General online converters usually cannot render proprietary CWZ projects because they do not include Circuit Wizard. Services such as CloudConvert, Zamzar, and Convertio should be used only if their current format lists explicitly show CWZ support; otherwise they will reject the file or treat it as unsupported data. For confidential or unpublished designs, convert locally rather than uploading the project.
