Convert JT to STP

JT format, sometimes labeled as Jupiter Tessellation, is 3D data format used primarily for product visualization, collaboration, CAD data exchange, and sometimes for long-term data retention. It was originally developed by Engineering Animation, Inc. (EAI), and later acquired by Siemens PLM Software. It is proprietary format and unfortunately rarely supported in 3D modeling software, with the exception of solutions from Siemens, most notably Siemens NX or Solid Edge.

STEP on the other hand is a well-supported ISO standard for representation and exchange of product manufacturing information and as such pretty much every 3D modeling tool can work with this format.

How to convert JT format to STEP

It is not hard to find a tool that can visualize JT files (for example with JT2Go from Siemens), but their export is entirely another matter. In this case your options for conversion of JT 3D models to any other format will be always limited, despite the fact that JT is openly-published ISO-standardized format. If you do not have access to Siemens software for export to STEP format or any other exchange format, you have to rely on other 3D modeling software that support JT format either natively, but in majority of cases through 3rd party plugins. This is the case of SolidWorks or some of the Autodesk software solutions, for example Inventor.

Final option how to export 3D models from JT format to STEP format is to use one of the dedicated CAD/3D modeling converters, such as EnSuite, CAD Exchanger or CrossManager. A viable alternative in this case is Autodesk Fusion 360, which works for macOS as well.
