What the TIFF format is

How to convert VP3 to TIFF

If the software does not provide bitmap export, export or capture the stitch preview at the required physical size, then convert that image with the same command. Avoid capturing a small on-screen preview when the TIFF will be printed, because enlarging it cannot restore missing detail.
Quality and compatibility limitations
- The conversion renders stitches into pixels; it does not produce an editable or sewable embroidery file.
- Set the intended physical dimensions before rendering. A design rendered at 100 mm wide and 300 dpi is approximately 1181 pixels wide; changing only the TIFF metadata later does not add visual detail.
- Thread colors are approximate. VP3 color information may reference a thread catalog, while the TIFF contains fixed RGB or CMYK pixels; different software can therefore show slightly different shades.
- Keep the original VP3 alongside the TIFF. The VP3 is required if the design must be resized, recolored, edited, or sent to an embroidery machine.
- Use LZW or ZIP compression for lossless TIFF storage. JPEG-compressed TIFF can introduce artifacts around thin stitches and small lettering.
