What the TXT format is

Quality and compatibility limits

TXT stores no document structure, so conversion cannot recover chapter hierarchy, bold or italic text, images, footnotes, links, or page design that was never present in the source. Add chapter headings and metadata during conversion, or prepare the document as HTML or EPUB first when presentation matters.

Hard line breaks and blank lines affect the MOBI layout. A manuscript with a line break after every printed line may become a series of short paragraphs; remove unwanted line breaks before conversion. Conversely, separate chapters with clear headings and blank lines so navigation and paragraph structure remain readable.

Test the output on the intended Kindle device or ebook application. A MOBI file that opens in one reader may have limited navigation or formatting in another, and newer Kindle workflows may handle EPUB more reliably.
