How to perform the conversion

The best method depends on what you want the MOBI file to contain. If you want a single BMP image inside a MOBI ebook, use ebook-authoring software such as Calibre. If you want to create a more polished ebook from multiple images, first combine or arrange them into a document, then convert that document to MOBI.

1. Open Calibre and add the BMP file with Add books.
2. Select the imported item and choose Convert books.
3. Set the output format to MOBI.

Notes on quality and limitations

BMP to MOBI is not a natural format match. BMP is a raster image format, while MOBI is an ebook format. As a result, the conversion may produce a file that is larger than expected and less flexible than a normal ebook. If the BMP is used as a full-page image, text inside the image will not be searchable or reflowable.

Keep these limitations in mind:

• Image quality is usually preserved, but the file may be compressed or resized during ebook conversion.
• Text in the image cannot be edited or reflowed unless you run OCR first.
• Kindle compatibility can vary depending on the device and app version; Amazon now prefers newer formats such as AZW3 or KFX for many workflows.
• Multiple BMP files may need to be combined into a single document before conversion if you want a multi-page ebook.

For best results, use a high-resolution BMP, keep the layout simple, and verify the MOBI output on the target reader before distributing it.
