People convert an MDB database to DOCX when they need to send database records as an editable Word document, prepare a printable report, or archive selected data in a widely supported format. What the MDB format is

MDB is the database file format used primarily by Microsoft Access versions through Access 2003. It can contain tables, saved queries, forms, reports, macros, relationships, indexes, and VBA modules.

How to actually convert MDB to DOCX

Using Microsoft Access and Word

1. Make a backup of the original .mdb file. Open the copy in Microsoft Access and allow the file to be repaired or converted only if Access requests it.
2. Decide what should appear in the document. For raw records, open or create a query that selects the required fields and applies filters or sorting. For a formatted report, open or create an Access report and check its page layout in Print Preview.
3. For a report, use External Data → Export → Word or the equivalent External Data → Export → More → Word command, depending on the Access version. Select the report or query, choose the destination, and export it. Access commonly creates an .rtf file rather than a native DOCX file.
4. Open the exported .rtf file in Microsoft Word. Check tables, page breaks, fonts, images, headers, and footers, then choose File → Save As, select Word Document (*.docx), and save.
5. For a simple table, select the query datasheet in Access, choose Home → Copy, paste it into Word, and save the document as DOCX. This is often faster than exporting a report but does not preserve complex Access report formatting.
