What the KUX format is
KUX is a proprietary video container used by Youku for videos downloaded through its desktop or mobile applications. It commonly contains Youku-specific encryption, protection, or codec handling, so a KUX file may play in the Youku application but fail in VLC, FFmpeg, and standard video editors. KUX files are encountered in application download or cache folders rather than as normal camera or editing exports.
What the DAT format is
For video, .dat normally identifies a Video CD MPEG-1 program stream. It is intended for VCD players and VCD authoring software, not general-purpose storage. A standard VCD uses MPEG-1 video at approximately 1150 kbit/s, MPEG-1 Layer II audio at 224 kbit/s, 44.1 kHz stereo audio, and either 352×288 at 25 fps for PAL or 352×240 at approximately 29.97 fps for NTSC.
How to actually convert KUX to DAT

Quality and compatibility limitations
DAT conversion to VCD specifications reduces resolution and usually introduces generation loss, especially when the KUX source is already compressed. Match PAL or NTSC to the target player, and check the finished file with a media player or VCD authoring tool before burning. If the KUX is DRM-protected, only an authorized export, supported converter, or playback capture can provide a usable source; renaming or remuxing the protected file will not remove that restriction.
