VDA files refer to the VDA-FS (Verband der Automobilindustrie - Flächenschnittstelle) format, which is a CAD file format used for exchanging 2D and 3D vector graphics, especially in the automotive industry. VDA files are used for sharing geometric data between different CAD systems.

Why convert DST to VDA?

Converting a DST embroidery file to a VDA CAD file is an uncommon but sometimes necessary process, especially if you need to use embroidery designs as vector outlines in CAD applications for further design, manufacturing, or documentation purposes.

How to convert DST to VDA

Direct conversion from DST to VDA is not natively supported by most software, as these formats serve very different industries. The process typically involves two steps:

1. Convert DST to a vector format (such as DXF or SVG) using embroidery software.
2. Convert the vector file to VDA using a CAD application that supports VDA export.

Recommended software for DST to VDA conversion
