How to convert b6i to img file

A B6I image needs conversion when a mounting, backup, or disc-authoring program accepts raw IMG files but cannot open BlindWrite images. The result is still a disc image, but in a more widely recognized sector-based form.

What the B6I format is

B6I is the primary data file used by VSO BlindWrite, a Windows application for copying and authoring CD and DVD images. It contains the image's sector data and is found in optical-disc backups and software archives created with BlindWrite.

A B6I image often has a matching .b6t file. B6T describes the source disc's track layout; it does not contain the main disc data. BlindWrite users may need both files to reproduce a multi-track disc accurately, but an ordinary data CD or DVD can be converted from the B6I file alone.

What the IMG format is

IMG is a generic extension for a disk image, usually a raw sequence of sectors copied from removable media. It can represent a CD, DVD, floppy disk, hard disk, or another block device, so the extension alone does not identify the filesystem, disc type, or boot structure.

Raw IMG files are accepted by many mounting, virtualization, recovery, imaging, and disc-authoring programs. They are useful when software expects sector data rather than a BlindWrite-specific image format, although support varies by program.

How to convert B6I to IMG

You can use the converter on 101convert.com without installing desktop software:

  1. Open the B6I-to-IMG conversion page on 101convert.com.
  2. Upload the .b6i file alone. The accompanying .b6t file is not required for this conversion.
  3. Start the conversion and download the resulting .img file when processing finishes.

The B6T file matters only for a disc with multiple tracks, such as audio tracks alongside a data track. If it is not supplied, track boundaries may not be preserved in the IMG output. An ordinary data CD or DVD converts completely from the B6I file alone.

Quality and compatibility limits

This process creates another disk-image file; it does not extract the disc into folders or convert it into an ISO archive. Mount or open the output with software that supports raw IMG images.

A raw image normally remains close to the source disc's full sector capacity, including unused sectors, so conversion does not necessarily reduce the file size. For multi-track, mixed-mode, audio, bootable, or copy-protected discs, test the IMG in the intended application and verify track recognition, bootability, and readable content. Sector data may remain intact while track metadata held in B6T is lost, and some copy-protection schemes cannot be reproduced by a generic IMG file.
