Understanding BTW and PRN file formats

Before we delve into the conversion process, it's important to understand what BTW and PRN file formats are. BTW files are label formats created with BarTender, the world's leading design and print software for labels, barcodes, cards, and RFID tags. On the other hand, PRN files are created by the "Print to File" function of various programs, essentially containing all the information needed for a print job.

Converting BTW to PRN

Converting a BTW file to a PRN file involves using the BarTender software. This is because BTW files are proprietary to BarTender and can only be properly opened and converted using this software. Here's how to do it:

1. Open BarTender and select the BTW file you want to convert.
2. Go to File → Print.
3. In the Print dialog box, select Print to file.
4. Choose the location where you want to save the file and name it with the .prn extension.
5. Click Print to create the PRN file.

Please note that the resulting PRN file can be quite large, as it contains all the information necessary for the print job, including images and fonts.
