What the AIFF format is

AIFF (Audio Interchange File Format) is an audio container developed by Apple and commonly used for uncompressed PCM recordings. NBS is useful for turning a melody or arrangement into a Minecraft note-block song. It is compact compared with recorded audio, but it cannot preserve vocals, natural reverb, drum nuances, continuous pitch bends, or arbitrary sounds. Minecraft note blocks support a limited set of instruments and pitch ranges.

How to actually convert AIFF to NBS

Check the NBS editor's supported format version before saving. Older Minecraft tools may reject newer NBS versions, while modern editors may import older files. MIDI tempo changes, sustain, overlapping notes, pitch bends, and instruments may require manual adjustment because NBS uses Minecraft's fixed instrument and pitch model.
