MIDI and NBS are not directly equivalent, so conversion is often approximate rather than perfect. During conversion, some notes may be transposed, merged, dropped, or reassigned to fit the limited instrument set and pitch range available in NBS.

For best results, use a MIDI file with a clear melody, limited polyphony, and simple instrumentation. Complex orchestral arrangements, heavy percussion, and expressive synth parts usually require manual editing after import.
