Quality, compatibility, and limitations

vCard to TXT is usually a loss of structure. The conversion is straightforward because vCard is already text-based, but the resulting TXT file will not behave like a contact file anymore. It will not preserve importable contact metadata in a structured way unless you manually format it.

Some vCard files use quoted-printable or base64-encoded fields, and some contain multiple contacts in one file. In those cases, a plain text export may show encoded data or raw field labels such as FN, TEL, and EMAIL. If you need a clean readable list, you may need to open the file in a contacts app or use a parser before saving to TXT.

Because TXT has no formatting standard beyond plain text, the exact appearance depends on the editor or tool used. For best compatibility, save the output as UTF-8 encoded plain text so names and special characters are preserved correctly.
