How to actually convert XMAP to MMAP

1. Make a backup copy of the original .xmap file. Do not merely rename its extension; changing the filename does not convert the internal format.
2. Open the copy in a desktop XMind version that supports XMAP. If the older file does not open in a current release, install a compatible legacy XMind release, then save the map in the newer .xmind format if offered.
3. In XMind, choose File → Export, select Mindjet MindManager or MindManager as the export format, and continue through the export dialog.
4. Choose an output folder and save the result with an .mmap extension. Open the exported file in MindManager and check the hierarchy, notes, hyperlinks, attachments, markers, and relationships.

Quality and compatibility limitations
