KDC (Kodak Digital Camera Raw Image File) is a raw image format produced by some Kodak digital cameras. It contains minimally processed image data directly from the camera sensor, allowing for high-quality post-processing.

Why convert PSF to KDC?

Converting a PSF file to KDC is uncommon, as PSF is an editable format and KDC is a camera raw format. However, you might want to convert for compatibility with specific photo editing or archiving workflows that require raw image formats.

How to convert PSF to KDC

Direct conversion from PSF to KDC is not natively supported by most software, as KDC is a proprietary raw format. The typical workflow involves exporting the PSF to a standard format (like TIFF or JPEG) and then using specialized tools to convert to KDC, though this may not preserve all raw data characteristics.

Recommended software for conversion

• ArcSoft PhotoStudio: Open your PSF file, then use File → Save As to export to TIFF or JPEG.
• ImageMagick: Use the command line to convert exported TIFF/JPEG to other formats, though KDC export is not directly supported.
• RawTherapee or Adobe DNG Converter: These tools can handle raw formats, but do not support KDC export. There is currently no mainstream software that converts standard images to KDC format.

Note: Since KDC is a camera raw format, converting a standard image to KDC does not recreate the original raw data. For archiving or editing, consider using TIFF or DNG instead.

Step-by-step conversion process
