Notes on quality, compatibility, and limitations

MSCX does not contain audio, so the WAV output is a rendered performance, not a direct extraction. That means the result depends on the notation software’s playback engine, instrument sounds, tempo interpretation, repeats, and mixer settings.

Because WAV is uncompressed, the output will be large, but it will be broadly compatible with audio editors, media players, and DAWs. If the score uses advanced notation, custom instruments, or third-party soundfonts, the exported audio may sound different on another system unless the same playback resources are available.

Also note that MSCX is the uncompressed MuseScore format; if your file is actually .mscz, MuseScore can still open it, but the conversion process is the same.
