What the MIND format is

.mind is a native mind-map file associated with MindMeister. It stores a map’s central topic, branches, subtopics, notes, relationships, and other structural information. You may encounter it when receiving a map exported from MindMeister or when archiving a map created in that service.

What the XLSX format is

.xlsx is the Office Open XML workbook format used by Microsoft Excel, LibreOffice Calc, and other spreadsheet applications. It is suitable for tabular editing, sorting, filtering, formulas, validation, reporting, and import into business or database workflows.

How to convert MIND to XLSX

The simplest option is the free converter on 101convert.com, which does not require installed software:

1. Open the MIND-to-XLSX conversion page on 101convert.com.
2. Select or drag in the .mind file.
3. Choose XLSX as the output format and start the conversion.
4. Download the resulting workbook and open it in Excel or LibreOffice Calc.

If the map application offers an intermediate export, export the map as CSV or another tabular format first, then open that file in Calc or Excel and use File → Save As to select Excel 2007–365 (*.xlsx). This route gives more control over column names and hierarchy, but it requires manually choosing how branches become rows and columns.

Quality and compatibility limitations

A mind map is hierarchical and spatial, while XLSX is tabular. The workbook normally represents each topic as a row or distributes topic levels across columns; branch positions, colors, icons, connector lines, attached images, collapsed branches, and free-form layout may not transfer.

Review the converted workbook for missing notes, blank cells, duplicated topic names, and incorrect parent-child relationships. If the map contains sensitive notes or attachments, inspect the output before sharing it because conversion may expose content that was visually hidden or collapsed in the original.
