Convert HKI1 to HKI2

Understanding hki1 and hki2 file formats

hki1 and hki2 are proprietary archive file formats created by WinHKI, a compression utility popular in some regions for its high compression ratios. The hki1 format is an older version, while hki2 is a newer iteration offering improved compression and compatibility. Both formats are used to store collections of files in a single compressed archive, similar to ZIP or RAR files.

Why convert hki1 to hki2?

Converting hki1 archives to hki2 can provide better compression, improved error recovery, and enhanced compatibility with newer versions of WinHKI. This is especially useful if you want to standardize your archive collection or take advantage of the latest features.

The most reliable way to convert hki1 files to hki2 is by using the WinHKI software itself. Follow these steps:

1. Download and install WinHKI from the official website.

3. Extract the contents of the hki1 archive to a folder.
4. In WinHKI, select File → New Archive and choose hki2 as the archive format.
