Convert WG1 to FM1

Understanding WG1 and FM1 file formats

The WG1 file format is associated with Lotus 1-2-3, a spreadsheet program that was popular in the 1980s and 1990s. WG1 files contain spreadsheet data, including formulas, charts, and other elements used in data analysis and presentation. On the other hand, the FM1 file format is related to FileMaker Pro, a cross-platform relational database application. FM1 files store database information, including tables, fields, and records, which are used for managing and organizing data.

How to convert WG1 to FM1

Converting a WG1 file to an FM1 file involves transferring spreadsheet data into a database format. This process may require intermediate steps, such as converting the WG1 file to a more common format like CSV, which can then be imported into FileMaker Pro.

Best software for WG1 to FM1 conversion

To perform the conversion, you can use the following software:

• Lotus 1-2-3: If you have access to this legacy software, you can open the WG1 file and export it to a CSV format using File → Save As → CSV.
• Microsoft Excel: Excel can open WG1 files and save them as CSV files. Use File → Open to open the WG1 file, then File → Save As → CSV.
• FileMaker Pro: Once you have the data in CSV format, you can import it into FileMaker Pro using File → Import Records → File... and selecting the CSV file.

Conclusion

Converting WG1 files to FM1 involves using spreadsheet and database software to transfer data between formats. By using tools like Lotus 1-2-3, Microsoft Excel, and FileMaker Pro, you can effectively manage and convert your data for use in different applications.
