SD files are associated with Sound Designer, an early digital audio editing format. SD files store uncompressed audio data and are used in some legacy audio editing and sampling applications.

Why convert PSB to SD?

Converting a PSB (image) to SD (audio) is highly unusual, as these formats serve entirely different purposes. However, if you wish to convert the visual data of a PSB file into an audio waveform (for experimental or artistic reasons), you would need to interpret the image data as raw audio, which is a niche process.

How to convert PSB to SD

There is no direct, mainstream software that converts PSB image files to SD audio files. However, you can use a two-step process:

1. Export the PSB as a raw or standard image format (such as BMP or RAW) using Adobe Photoshop:
   • Open your PSB in Photoshop.
   • Go to File → Save As and choose BMP or RAW as the format.
2. Convert the image data to audio using an audio editor like Audacity:
   • Open Audacity.
   • Go to File → Import → Raw Data and select your exported image file.
   • Set the import parameters (sample rate, encoding, etc.) to experiment with how the image data is interpreted as sound.
   • Export the result as a WAV file via File → Export → Export as WAV.
   • To convert WAV to SD, use legacy audio tools like Sound Designer II or Audio Ease Barbabatch (if available).
