A program or older media device may require an AVI file, while the video arrives packaged inside a 7Z archive. The required operation is normally extraction rather than video conversion: unpack the archive, then use the AVI file.

What the 7Z format is

7Z is a compressed archive format created by 7-Zip and supported by tools such as p7zip, PeaZip, and The Unarchiver. It can contain one or many files, including AVI videos, with compression, directory structure, checksums, and optional AES-256 encryption.

What the AVI format is
