MMP files are project files created by LMMS (Linux MultiMedia Studio), a popular open-source digital audio workstation. These files store information about tracks, instruments, effects, and arrangements, but do not contain actual audio data.

MXM files, on the other hand, are MixMeister playlist files used by MixMeister, a DJ mixing software. MXM files contain playlists, song order, and sometimes cue points for DJ sets, but not the audio itself.
