Understanding IBP and PDI file formats

IBP files are associated with IsoBuster, a data recovery tool that creates IsoBuster Image Files as part of its disc image management. These files are typically used in conjunction with IBQ files to store incomplete or segmented disc images.

PDI files are InstantCopy Disc Image files created by Pinnacle InstantCopy, a disc authoring and copying software. PDI files are used to store complete disc images for burning or mounting.

Why convert IBP to PDI?

Converting an IBP file to PDI format may be necessary if you want to use the disc image with software that only supports PDI files, or if you need to burn or mount the image using tools compatible with the PDI format.

How to convert IBP to PDI

There is no direct one-step converter from IBP to PDI. However, you can achieve the conversion through a two-step process:

1. Reconstruct the full disc image from the IBP/IBQ pair using IsoBuster.
2. Convert the resulting image (usually ISO or BIN/CUE) to PDI using disc image conversion software.

Step 1: Extract the disc image from IBP/IBQ

IsoBuster is the best tool for this step:

• Open IsoBuster and load your IBP file (ensure the IBQ file is in the same folder).
• Right-click the disc icon and select Extract CD > Extract User Data (*.iso) or Extract CD > Extract RAW (*.bin, *.cue).
• Save the extracted image to your computer.

Step 2: Convert ISO/BIN to PDI

Use Alcohol 120% or PowerISO for this step:

• Open Alcohol 120% or PowerISO.
• Go to File > Open and select your ISO or BIN/CUE file.
• Choose File > Save As or Convert and select PDI as the output format.
• Save the new PDI file.
