What the 890 format is

In video-subtitle workflows, .890 identifies the Cavena 890 subtitle format used by Cavena subtitling and broadcast-authoring systems. It can store subtitle dialogue, cue timing, line breaks, and format-specific control or production data for professional delivery, localization, DVD, and broadcast workflows.

Cavena 890 is not interchangeable with .srt, .vtt, or other consumer subtitle formats. Timing may be frame-based, so the source frame rate and timecode conventions must be known when the file is imported into another subtitle system.

What the TXT format is

.txt stores characters without a standardized subtitle structure. It opens in Notepad, Notepad++, Visual Studio Code, and most operating systems, archive systems, and scripting environments. Plain text is suitable for reviewing dialogue, editing a transcript, comparing deliveries, and removing proprietary authoring data.

TXT does not define cue boundaries, timestamps, speaker styling, positioning, colors, italics, or encoding metadata. A conversion may write timestamps as ordinary text, but a video player will not normally recognize the result as a timed subtitle track. Use .srt, .vtt, or the delivery format required by the target application when playback is the goal.

How to convert 890 to TXT
